Notice is given in terms of the National Water Act (Act 36 of 1998) of the intent to submit the above proposal (WU37210) for authorisation to the Department of Water and Sanitation.
Upstream Consulting has been appointed by George Municipality (the Applicant) to undertake a water use license application for the proposed flood damage repairs and bank stabilisation at sections along the Camfersdrift River, in the Van Riebeek Gardens and the Camfersdrift Areas, George. There are nine (9) sites proposed for infrastructure repair, erosion control and riverbank stabilisation.
The project requires water use authorisation in terms of the National Water Act (Act 36 of 1998), for the following water uses:
Section 21(c) -Impeding or diverting the flow of water in a watercourse, and
Section 21(i) – Altering the bed, banks, course or characteristics of a watercourse.
Potential Interested & Affected Parties (I&APs) are invited to comment on the application until 1 October 2024. I&APs must provide their comments, with name and contact details, to Debbie Fordham, at debbie@upstreamconsulting.co.za
