“A leopard might not be able to change its spots…but it seems a Tiger can change its stripes!”
Here at Cango Wildlife Ranch we received more than just the gift of summer this month. One of our white Bengal Tigers, gave birth to two beautiful cubs in the early hours of Wednesday morning (5 Oct). The cubs and their mom are all healthy and happy, and are comfortable and undisturbed at our Tiger Breeding Facility. The mother (Gina) and father (Shiva) are both WHITE tigers, so it was no surprise that the cubs would be too…however we were ecstatic to learn that they had NO stripes! Again, Cango WIldlife Ranch has successfully bred white ‘stripeless’ Bengal tiger cubs, bringing our number up to 5! The male cub has been named ‘Amish’ meaning truthful, and the female cub is ‘Tiana’ meaning Princess.
White tigers have a double recessive gene; they are not albinos, but are the blond hair, blue eye version of the orange Bengal tiger. You would need both parents to carry this gene to be able to reproduce a white tiger. The white tiger is an extremely rare and beautiful animal. To us, the white Bengal Tigers are ambassador species to increase public awareness and education for the plight of all endangered animals. This remarkable animal continues to bring fascinated visitors to educational facilities and zoos across the world. These cubs, being stripeless – is a rarity which occurs only in a small number of facilities across the world. The first stripeless white tiger that was born in Africa was a female and was born at our facility.
The cubs will be on the Ranch for public encounters and viewing from the end of November.
