We know you have a “signature” dish, a meal that you are so proud of and you know that you can cook, so… we at LM Restaurant are challenging all aspiring cooks to our cook off, Come and show us how amazing your dish is and if you beat all other dishes we’ll send you to a beautiful little lodge in Mozambique, plus Unilever has put together a fantastic hamper to bring out the real chef in you.
Luiz de Fonseca of LM in Plett, Main Street, Plettenberg Bay has been sitting on a fantastic idea of hosting of cook-off competition in his Restaurant for the last two years and had decided that 2012 is the year to throw caution to the wind and invite all aspiring cooks – as we all have a signature dish – to come and enjoy a bit of winter fun on Thursday evenings and cook off against other aspiring cooks.
Says Luiz “Thegeneralidea is that we will start with 24 cooks for the 12 week duration, two cooks will then cook off against each other each week with one cook going through to the next round etc until we get down to the finals, which will be a great finale as it corresponds with LM’s 5th birthday and the winner gets some super prizes including title of LM winter cook 2012, a personalised chef’s jacket from Protecx Workwear here in Plett, a hamper from Unilever to make cooking even more fun and we will be sending the winner and a partner off to a quick holiday in a stunning guest lodge in Mozambique, we will also be turning all the recipes in a unique Plett recipe book”
There is no entry fee, Rietvallei wines have generously come on board and will be offering their John B range of reds and whites at a fantastic price for the duration of this competition.
Judges will be “pulled” out of the audience on the night so it really is a good idea to bring some family and friends that hopefully like your food and to keep things interesting our entertaining emcee and foodie PaulDeans will have final say on the meals so it will be a fun-filled evening for both cooks and audience and perhaps a tad wild.
Cooks will only be given ½ an hour to cook so preparation really is key for this one and each cook must bring as many prepared ingredients from home as possible and will then put their whole meal together in the restaurant in front of the audience and cameras in a specially made cooking station made by Roger Hart.
There will be black pot soups/starters for the audience to taste and guess the ingredients and of course bonus and random prizes handed out during the evening, LM Restaurant will put on a very well priced set menu for the evening .

Rules:
Contestants MAY NOT be qualified or practicing chefs, this competition is only open to the home cook who loves to show off his/her signature dish
Pot, pan or oven meals only
Preparation is key
You will only have 30 mins to cook your meal, so be sure to bring your veggie chopped, your stock made, and nerves calm
* Bring all your family and friends to support you as your “judges” will be pulled from the audience so it may help you if people actually like you and enjoy eating your meal.
Final decision on your meal will be made by MC extraordinary PaulDeans and no arguing will be entered in to.
No Entry fee is required
All recipes will be used for a Plettenberg Bay recipe book.
