It is with great pleasure to be welcoming all the participants and festival goers to the 21st Absa Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees (KKNK) in the heart of the Little Karoo. The Oudtshoorn Municipality and its residents are proud to be part of one of the South Africa’s most successful arts festivals.
I am confident that all of you would agree with us that Oudtshoorn is one of the leading towns when it comes to recognition and preservation of arts, culture and sport in the Western Cape.
The Oudtshoorn Municipality in conjunction with its stakeholders in town is now facilitating the development and implementation of the GREATER OUDTSHOORN VISION 2030. This vision is intended to guide decision-making with the focus on economic growth of the entire town and regeneration of previously disadvantaged areas.
One of the seven key areas of the Vision 2030 focuses on arts & culture intended at creating economic and social opportunities through the arts, heritage & sport. The Oudtshoorn Municipality and its stakeholders invite you to participate in the achieving of the Greater Oudtshoorn Vision 2030.
The Oudtshoorn Municipality in collaboration with the Kuns Onbeperk (Absa KKNK) are working together towards the establishment of the Arts & Culture Academy. An amount of up to R 2 Million has already been spent on the upgrading of the Toekomsrus Community Hall which will later be converted to the Arts & Culture Academy. Your participation to the Absa KKNK already contributes to the Vision 2030 as the festival forms an integral part of the arts, culture & sport sector of the town’s vision.
Our support to the Absa KKNK remains intact, we would also like to thank all the sponsors & partners that are part of the festival, our workers who for past 20 years showed diligence during the KKNK and the residents of the Greater Oudtshoorn who ensured that the town never disappoints in its generosity and hospitality.
