This year will mark a third consecutive Coke Week appearance for Heunis, who first caught the eye in 2012, when he scored 96 against Mpumalanga as a 16-year-old. His performance with the bat earned him a place in the SA Colts team in 2012, but this year is his chance to fight for SA Schools selection.

How would you describe yourself as a cricketer?
I working very hard on my game, always up for a challenge, and the guy you could turn to when the team is in need.
What is your favourite cricket memory?
Making the SA colts side in 2012.
What cricket ambitions do you have for the future?
Playing for my franchise and represent my country, South Africa.
Have you set yourself any goals for this year’s Khaya Majola Coca-Cola cricket week?
Yes. As a batsman I want to make runs and as a captain to win all our games. I want to lead my side to victory and at the end of the day playing SA Schools and making the Cubs team.
This is your third appearance at the U19 Coke Week, how prepared are you after your past experiences?
My first year was the best performance of my life, so I want to prepare just like I did that time. I also want to be more mature in my game that’s what I have been working on for a long time now.
You’re captaining the SWD U19 team this year. How much captaincy experience do you have and do you enjoy the job?
I have been captain for the past two years at my school and have also captain my club side. I enjoy every bit of being a captain, this is not an easy job.
Is there any format of cricket you prefer and why (T20, declaration etc)?
Limited overs is my thing, because I am more of an aggressive batsman who like to score boundaries, but if you want me to do so, I can play a well-structured innings like in a declaration match.
Do you have any rituals before a match or superstitions?
I don’t know if I should mention this but it is important for me to go to the bathroom before I go bat to get rid of my stress. There is some butterflies.

Michael Clarke
What’s the funniest thing that you’ve seen on the cricket field?
The ball hitting one of my friends in the nuts.
What do you like to do away from the cricket field?
Hang out with some friends and spent time with my girl.
If Hollywood made a movie about your life which actor would you like to play you in the movie and why?
Matt Damon. He is a very professional actor and I loved his role in Invictus where he played Francios Pienaar.
If you could have any superpower which one would you choose?
I would like to be in more than one place at the same time.
