Taking place in the scenic countryside town of Heidelberg WC, at the Heidelberg Showgrounds, just 275 km from Cape Town, The Giant Pumpkin Festival is set to become a popular calendar event in the Hessequa region.
There are big prizes up for grabs at the 2018 Giant Pumpkin Festival, the biggest pumpkin will win R15 000. If the World record is broken, you could win R150 000! If the South African record is broken, you will win R30 000 and if you get over 750kg then you will win R60 000.
The festival will celebrate, as usual, the Largest Pumpkins in South Africa and also host a Golf Day, a Trail Run, a Beer Garden and Potjiekos Competition, Luxury Camping (Glamping) Live Music and dance and entertainment for the whole family. Bok van Blerk will be performing on the 8th March. Gates open at 16h00 and the entry fee is R150.
The Giant Pumpkin Festival has been taking place for the past 7 years and keeps growing in popularity. In 2016 a Mountain Bike Race was added and because of it’s success – we are repeating this in 2019 – Bigger and Better! This will take place on Saturday 9 March 2019.
For 2019, we want to and 100km Mini-Fondo a 60 km Cycle Race,40 km Cycle Race and a 15 km Fun Cycle Race. Gravel Bikes and MTB welcome. Enter online, or on Friday evening from 17h00 onwards or on the day from 06h00 – 07h00. There will also be a 15km Trail Run.
During the day there will be events for kids such as, Pumpkin Tug of War, Jumping Castle, Putt Putt, Climbing Wall, Water Slide, Face Painting and more.
A Campsite will be available at the showgrounds and local Accommodation options will be promoted.
