Garden Route Game Lodge expands

The culmination of three years of planning has resulted in the Garden Route Game Lodge expanding toward the Gouritz River – an 11km extension of its borders.

The extended area falls within the Critical Biodiversity Zone, and offers a variety of habitats, of which the Southern Cape Valley Thicket is the most prominent. Home to a number of wildlife species included bush pig, caracal, bushbuck, grey rhebok, steenbok, duiker, kudu, honey badger and rock hyrax (dassie), the area recently introduced giraffe, kudu, eland, zebra, red hartebeest and springbok, and is looking at introducing bontebok in the New Year.

There will be no Big Five game in the area.
