Gardening on the Goukou

OUR GARDENS are big news on the Goukou and beyond, so please share yours with our resident Garden Gnome by sending information and photographs, if available, to stilbaai@thegremlin.co.za

We will feature local gardens regularly and will also have some advice and seasonal tips from local experts on how to cultivate anything from fynbos to gladioli.

With the help of compost, other soil additives, Epsom salts, some know-how and lots of tender loving care, you can work with the rich limestone soils of our region, part of the unique Cape Floral Kingdom, to make gardening a rewarding task. Seasonal rainfall and natural aquifers are an added boon to those with green thumbs.

Even if you are not an avid gardener yourself, please poke your nose over the neighbour’s fence and if they have a botanical display worthy of sharing with our readers, please tip off the Garden Gnome.

As we are a bilingual website please feel free to correspond in Afrikaans.

In fact, one of our first two Gardening on the Goukou features was written in Afrikaans, and both appear in today’s Stilbaai News.

Happy Goukou Gardening!

Regards

Garden Gnome
