Marine mammal song meets music at unique Plett Ocean Festival

Once-in-a-lifetime performance: Whale song and live music in an ancient cave 3, 5, 7 JULY 2023: Come and enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience, where we invite you to join us for a moment of deep appreciation of whale song recordings (procured just off this coastline by Dr. Alejandra Vargas), as well as paying homage to an ancient sacred site- a cave with many thousands of years of history of human habitation- accompanied live by two musicians (Vuyo Katsha and James van Minnen ) performing original works played on ethnic and traditional instruments.

Unforgettable Ocean Cruise with live whale/ dolphin sounds and live musicians
3 & 8 JULY 2023: Join an exclusive chartered cruise with Ocean Outfitters Marine Conservation Trust, leaving Central Beach and making our way to a part of the ocean off Robberg to drop a hydrophone into the water and listen to what sounds we can hear from local whale/ dolphin life. To enhance and make this experience more interactive, we will be joined by two musicians who will be playing live music along with this ocean soundtrack: Vuyo Katsha on mbira and James van Minnen on percussion. Unmissable Plett Ocean Festival Opening Night: Marine Mammal Song meets music at Surf Café
29 JUNE 2023: Come and enjoy a unique and first-of-its-kind collaboration between two local Plett-based musicians (Martin Wolfaardt on keyboards and James van Minnen on drums) and featuring Vuyo Katsha on mbira, tama and marimba. This trio will in turn be collaborating and playing along to the soundtrack of whale and dolphin recordings which were recorded in the field by marine biologist Alejandra Vargas PhD, just off the the magnificent Plettenberg Bay coastline.
