Chief Executive Officer, Marius Venter, recently submitted a letter of resignation to the Plett Tourism Board (PT) which was unanimously accepted at a Board meeting held on Wednesday the 23rd of September 2020, to “pursue opportunities in the private sector”.
At the same Board meeting,Plett Tourism Projects Manager, Patty Butterworth, was appointed Acting Chief Executive Officer with effect from the 1st of October. The appointment was received with considerable enthusiasm by both the Board and other members of the Plett Tourism team, who strongly support the appointment of a new CEO well-versed in existing Plett Tourism strategy. Most notably, someone from within the existing team in-order to maintain continuity and momentum to drive the continued opening-up of the tourism industry in Bitou.
In commenting on the changeover of CEO duties, on behalf of the Board, Richardson thanked Marius for his contribution to the ongoing success of the association and, in particular the re-establishment of an excellent cooperative working relationship with Bitou Municipality during the COVID lock down, and wished him the very best for his future endeavours.
Patty Butterworth has been a media and travel trade business development consultant for Plett Tourism since its inception in 2013 and has, in addition, worked extensively in the tourism industry over the course of 20+ years, and with corporate brands and publishing houses for 34+ years. This experience and her existing excellent working relationship with tourism industry operatives in the Bitou area and beyond make her the ideal candidate to assume the duties of Plett Tourism CEO during these challenging times.
