Mossel Bay, Garden Route(August 2023) – The Mighty Men Conference Mossel Bay 2023 (MMCMB23) will be held from December 15 to 17 at Bartelsfontein Farm. Themed ‘Arise Mossel Bay’, the conference was initiated by a local prayer group called Coffee for Men.
Chairman Lukas Swart says they are preparing to receive 300,000 attendees between that Friday evening and the conference’s conclusion on the Sunday. He is assisted in organising this seminal gathering by a dedicated committee as well as eventing expert Alewijn Dippenaar of Thousand Sensations to seamlessly cater for a record number of visitors.
“Speakers have been selected to touch the men’s hearts, and visitors can prepare themselves to ignite their spiritual life and be transformed during the course of our conference,” said Swart. But where will these visitors to hail from?
“Fistly, we have the confidence and trust that God will send the men that need to hear His message, we are just setting the platform, He will send the people.MMC Mossel Bay, planned on this scale, will be unlike any other Mighty Men event presented in our province before. We believe that Our Father will meet with every man and his family (Family day Sunday) from December 15 to 17 – the start of the holiday season. Holidays are the highlight of the year and we believe visitors will flock to the iconic Mossel Bay from every corner of SA.
“There is a natural flow of vacationers from all over the world who spend holidays in our country. December 16 is a day of reconciliation and a public holiday, and we believe that we will see the powerful action of the Holy Spirit to bring reconciliation in families and communities in Mossel Bay and beyond,” says Swart.
Organisers are in the process of finalising the speakers. The programme equates to 48 hours of praise from 6pm on Friday onwards, with eight diverse sessions over the weekend.
“We believe that, around the activities at Bartelsfontein, visitors will experience our Iconic Mossel Bay before or after the conference weekend. The event is a great asset for the community and local businesses. Not only Mossel Bay but the entire Southern Cape will experience transformation through the Mighty Men event,” says Swart.
The Mighty Men Conference is free but prospective visitors must register; it’s ‘men only’ on December 15 and 16, but Sunday the 17th is open to families. Camping space is available at a minimal cost and campers must register and make reservations on the website. Many day visitors from among those already holidaying in the area are expected.
Men are encouraged to camp, but take note that only gas braais are allowed. A camp chair is a must and visitors can bring their own refreshments (no alcohol), but there will also be food stalls and braai facilities for day visitors and campers alike.
“We invite wives and children to come and visit us on Sunday after the morning service. Bring a picnic basket and come praise together as a family, with a bonus session by Jo Black. Families can opt to be baptised, and there’s a special opportunity for boys to be declared men by their families,” explains Swart.
“The Arise Mossel Bay Mighty Men Conference will be the first of its kind in our iconic town, and also the biggest. The costs of staging it are very high but we believe the Lord will put it in the hearts of our community to contribute in terms of time and donations,” he concludes.
