AfriForum establishes another farm watch in George

The civil rights organisation AfriForum established a second farm watch in George on 30 July 2021. This farm watch is the organisation’s second safety structure that has been established in George. A third is also on the cards.

The current Geelhoutboom farm watch has already achieved many successes and paved the way for this latest addition to AfriForum’s safety structures in the George area. The newly-elected management is Dewald de Kock (farm watch leader), Corne Martin (team leader: operations), Dirk Lombaard (team leader: support) and Paul Theunissen (team leader: information).

“I am very excited about establishing the new farm watch in George. We can no longer leave the fight against crime to the police alone. We have to get involved ourselves in an attempt to make our communities more defensible,” says Eduan Naudé, Chairperson for Safety of AfriForum’s George branch.

“By denying criminals our area is nowadays no easy job and only possible if everyone pull their weight and cooperate. Communities must take responsibility for the own areas and assist the SAPS in their task,” says David Olivier, AfriForum’ Provincial Coordinator for Safety in the Western Cape.

AfriForum offers certain benefits and protection to its farm and neighbourhood watch members. Members also receive continuous training.

We encourage the community to join their nearest AfriForum branch and neighbourhood watch to make a real difference. SMS “Veilig” to 45353 (R1).
