BUS DRIVERS’ STRIKE IS OVER …GO GEORGE Bus service running according to the normal schedule.
The ongoing strike by Go George drivers is expected to continue into next week, as the parties are yet to find a solution to the labour dispute.
South African Transport and Allied Workers Union (Satawu)-affiliated drivers downed tools on Thursday, in a protest believed to be over bus routes.
This has forced the bus operating company George Link to scale down, with only 16 of its 87 buses active on the road.
The Western Cape Transport Department is assisting the company and the George Municipality to mediate with the union.
Western Cape transport spokesperson Byron la Hoe says, “Our officers are there to try and instill confidence in the system and find a solution.”
