According to organiser and founder of the event, Mimi Finestone of Interface by Goji PR and Events, it was pouring with rain on 30 December 2014 when the pre-entries took place.  “The amount of entries was a big surprise after all that rain, and we are extremely grateful.  It was also wonderful to see how many people (and their pets) took part in the 4,8km walk”, Finestone said.

The officials for the event were all from Greenhaven community and they were trained the day before the race took place.   Their outfits were sponsored by All Gold and they were a great team and a tremendous help.  Finestone said “It is heart-warming to experience how the community of Great Brak River embraces the event every year and they appreciate the exposure the village gets from the event.  The village is a hive of activity a few days before the event and the support we get from Peperboom Restaurant each year is phenomenal”.

Cape Pine has been contributing greatly to the exclusivity of the Grabadoo for the past 12 years by allowing the routes to run through their forests.  “We received so many compliments from participants on the smooth organisation of the event, but especially about the picturesque routes.  Participants are gobsmacked when they realise that they can experience the stunning forests of Cape Pine first hand by taking part in this race”, Me Finestone said. “We also have to thank Powerade for their sponsorship, and off course Mossel Bay Traffic Department and Provincial Traffic brought order to the potentially chaotic traffic.”

The Great Brak Grabadoo clearly belongs to the community of Great Brak River.  31 December of each year is Great Brak Grabadoo-day…finish and klaar! See you in Great Brak River on Thursday 31 December 2015!
