Slow Festival cancelled ‘until better times’

We regret that due to the current world Covid-19 crisis and government directions we have had to postpone our Sedgefield Slow Festival set to take place at the end of March 2020.

This postponement will be in place until better times when life is back to usual.

We would love to relaunch the festival later this year, perhaps in spring, but we have to obviously do the right thing and hunker down until the crisis passes.

We will try to keep all our planning in place and look forward to the return of our wonderful community festival in due course.

The Slow Festival Committee will obviously understand if any businesses taking part in the ‘Go Orange’ campaign choose to take down their orange décor for the time being and pack it away – we thank them all so much for their participation in creating town spirit.

We thank you the community for your support thus far, particularly everyone who has bought raffle tickets for the Water tank. We will be keeping the raffle going until the set draw date of 29 March, so please keep buying your tickets.

Lions will also be postponing the OCM awards (Outstanding Community Member) until we can resume the festival. All nominations thus far will be kept on file. Please feel free to vote or indeed make new nominations.

Once again we offer our sincerest apologies for the festival cancellation and thank everyone for their support and understanding.

From the organizing committee.
