Wire cars, a thing of the past brought back to life in the Slow Festival

sedge-slowOn your marks, get set, wire cars RACE! Do your children even know what a Draadkar is? Well it’s time they did!

REMAX Lakes has decided to take us back in time…to a time before our children discovered technology! “This was a time when kids built wire cars and spent hours racing them in quiet streets” said event organiser Chris van der Merwe from Remax Sedgefield. “We can’t wait to see the excitement on everyone’s faces at this inaugural Slow Festival event!”

All ‘Draadkars’ can either be built on site with the kit provided on Fri 3rd on the Village Green from 1pm or make/ bring your own on Sat 4th at 1pm, ready to race.  “Our Remax team will help and give guidance in building your wire car and there will be a model prototype to copy from on the Friday” said Chris.

Participants will be grouped into age categories (6-9yrs & 10-13yrs and Open: 14-100yrs), wire cars will be judged and the race will then take place down Kingfisher Drive from the Slow Festival start arch at 1pm on Saturday 4th April. There are many exciting prizes to be won!

Spectators are encouraged to support this new and out of the ordinary event!
