Sedgefield wins ‘Best Destination’ Award at Getaway

Sedgefield was awarded best destinations award at the annual Cape Town Getaway show being held at Lourensford wine Estate in Somerset West. 23 –25 March 2012.

Rose Bilbrough from Sedgefield Tourism and Amanda Dixon, organiser of the  annual slow festival, attended the Getaway show.

We decorated our stand with the orange that we promoted Sedgefield with this year. The theme for the slow fest being “turn the town orange” bright, happy and for change.

Sedgefield was promoted as a destination where families can holiday and have good old fashioned fun.

A destination that offers adventures like paragliding, paddling, kite boarding, surfing , stand up paddling , mountain biking, hiking , birding, snorkelling, just chilling on the beach or visiting the tranquil forest.

Writers like Dalene Mathee have brought this history of the area back to life.

Visitors were blown away about how much there is to do in Sedgefield and the happy, positive approach we have towards our little town was definitely the key factor to this award.  Along with us really putting in effort to display what we have to offer and the focus on family…..
