2018’s action-packed reboot of the popular Lara Croft Tomb Raider movie was filmed in South Africa and England. In this storyline, the athletic archaeologist embarks on a dangerous adventure, searching for the fictional lost island of Yamatai.
Emerging star Alicia Vikander substitutes Angelina Jolie, who was the titular Lara Croft for the 2001 and 2003 films. Into the Badlands led actor Daniel Wu plays Lara’s ally, Lu Ren, and the bad guy is interpreted by The Hateful Eight actor Walton Goggins.
Plettenberg Bay played host to the movie’s crew and stars as they filmed Lara landing on a private beach in the Forest Hall area of Plett. If you haven’t yet seen the new Tomb Raider, be sure to keep an eye out for scenes from our beautiful beaches in this Hollywood film!
