The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Wednesday confirmed debris found near Plettenberg Bay, belongs to the Italtile plane which disappeared on Tuesday night. The wreckage of plane, carrying seven top Italtile managers, was found in the ocean.
“It seems positive the pieces they found belongs to it but we will give our final confirmation once they have found the rest of the wreckage and hopefully the people as well,” said the CAA’s Phindiwe Gwebu.
The National Sea Rescue Institute’s (NSRI) Ray Farnham said they are sifting through the debris but it is unclear if there are any survivors, while Italtile’s Peter Swatton said they are in touch with family members.
