This award follows hot on the heels of the Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show for which the same port was awarded the title of Best Cape Port.<\/p>\n<p>The De Krans Tritonia 2011 was ranked third as one of the Top 10 Wines, with the Cape Tawny Ltd Release awarded runner-up in the Tawny Port category.<\/p>\n<p>Now in its third year, CAPPA highlights the very best Cape \u2018Port\u2019 and Portuguese varietal table wines; showcasing the enviable variety and sheer quality these wines offer the consumer. The top Cape \u2018Ports\u2019 and Top 10 Portuguese varietal\u00a0and\u00a0blended table wines were judged by means of a blind tasting conducted by a panel of wine experts, chaired by Dave Hughes.<\/p>\n<p>The De Krans Cape Vintage Reserve Port is a vibrant plum colour with dense aromas of prune, spice and tobacco.\u00a0 A fleshy, chewy mouthful of flavours, with a tannic grip, concentrated red fruit nuances, and a firm structure ensuring considerable longevity. Available from most outlets nationwide this award-winning port retails for approximately R250 per bottle. Port enthusiasts will be able to identify the CAPPA winners by the unique gold sticker on the bottle, reaffirming De Krans as one of South Africa\u2019s leading port producers.<\/p>\n<p>Reaffirming their position as one of the industry leaders for producing Portuguese varietal wines journalist Neil Pendock who was joined by fellow journalists for a tasting of niche red wines, recently ranked three De Krans wines in their top six tasted for this category.
