During their recent visit to SOLO Outdoor Experiences at De Hoek Mountain Resort the Grade 5 learners of Outeniqua Primary got more than they expected: Safety and Fire Fighting was part of their programme, but the two helicopters fighting a real fire was more than they could wish for.

The Power of Nature was demonstrated after a thunderstorm: Lightning caused a raging fire that took days to get under control.

Experiential learning in living like the San/Boesman came to life with the creation of their own rock paintings, making of bows and arrows and survival techniques.

Water ecology and the identification of life in the mountain streams was a booster for the young and upcoming scientists, while team building featured strongly during the week enjoying education in another exciting way.
