Oudtshoorn tourism officials on Wednesday said an outbreak of avian influenza has not deterred tourists.
The virus was first detected on one Karoo farm in April, but recent tests confirmed that the outbreak has spread.
So far, nearly 6,000 birds have been culled.
However, the Oudtshoorn Tourism Bureau’s Neil Els said there has been no change in visitor numbers.
Cango Ostrich Farm Manager Ranger Grebe said business is usually slower in winter.
“Directly, we don’t have any problems with the influenza at the moment,” he said.
