Southern Cape Jazz Festival hits Garden Route Casino

garden-route-casinoMossel Bay’s Garden Route Casino is bringing an exciting taste of African jazz to music lovers in the Southern Cape by hosting a three day long Jazz Festival from 10 to 12 April 2015.

Local jazz connoisseurs will be spoilt for choice with a great line up of accomplished musicians. The festival will feature jazz legend Dawnay on the 10th of April, followed by the popular R&B/Pop outfit the Rockets on the 11th of April, culminating in the battle of the jazz bands on the 12th of April.

Dawnay – 10 April 2011

In a career that has spanned thirty years, Dawnay has made an indelible mark on the South African solo music scene.

His most recent album, “Like me, Love me, Hate me” offers a celebration of his career, including a journey of signature tracks and a selection of fresh sounds that pay tribute to Madiba, South Africa as it is today and life as he believes it should be lived.

Audiences can expect pure jazz joy as he performs a collection of his old and new hits.

The Rockets – 11 April 2015

The Rockets are one of only a few bands that are able to headline their own successful nation-wide tours performing to 300 000 people annually and have played at many historical musical events which have taken place in South Africa.

Performing on the second night of the festival The Rockets are of South Africa’s most loved bands; and look set to acquire many more fans.

The Battle of the Bands – 2015

On the 12th of April the battle of the Jazz bands will get underway with judges searching for that unique jazz style and sound. Bands will battle it out to win the prestigious title of the Garden Route Jazz band of 2015.

“This is a great line-up featuring the best of local entertainment at the Garden Route Casino’s Bravo Lounge and we are delighted to have the opportunity to showcase such talent. We are anticipating large numbers so bookings are essential,” says Tryana Potgieter, Promotions Coordinator at Garden Route.
