Mossel Bay job agency boss arrested on 60 fraud charges

Southern Cape police have arrested a woman from Tergniet on more than 60 fraud charges involving more than R500,000.

The 49-year-old is believed to be the owner of a business called Global Vision, which is a placement agency.

Police say clients were asked to pay a nominal fee in exchange for the promise of a job abroad.

The agency then promised to refund part of their deposit if they did not get work within six months.

However, the police’s Bernadine Steyn said this never happened.

“The incidents were committed between 2006 and 2011 and involve several victims nationwide. She appeared in the Mossel Bay Magistrate’s Court and the case was postponed until 30 September 2011,” she said.
