Community clean-up for Concordia

A whopping 180 black bags of litter were collected today, 24 January during a community clean-up, hosted by the Municipal Solid Waste Department and Ward 8 Councillor, Thando Matika at Concordia.

The project was not only aimed at keeping the community clean, but to also honour and remember the late Councillor Victor Molosi.

Councillor Matika said, “Today would have been the late Comrade Molosi’s birthday. There is no better way to remember him than doing something to uplift the community. Councillor Tsengwa and I started off the day at the Love Life Centre, Concordia and donated table tennis equipment. Thereafter, we were joined by the Solid Waste Department, Community Work Programme (CWP) team and members of the community at Thembelitsha Primary School and we proceeded to clean the area.

“I would like to express my appreciation to all residents who took part in today’s activity, thank you for taking pride in our neighbourhood. The municipality cannot do it alone, so we welcome the community’s involvement. I hope we will have this programme on a regular basis.
