Rheenendal Farmwatch Newsletter

Our last visitors leave on Saturday and I guess it is now back to the grindstone.

Farmwatch should only address the safety and security in the area but so much comes my way that this news update will in future include anything that comes up and I hope to get a monthly contribution from the Fire Management Unit and the Conservancy. Having said that if there is anyone who has something interesting to communicate, I will look at including it here as well.

OUR SECURITY

The season period has been quiet but I did receive a report recently of shots being fired, accompanied by screaming from the Highway West area. If anyone has any knowledge of this, please let me know.

You will recall my plans to obtain new Farmwatch signage for the Keurhoek Neighbourhood Watch. For the project to be viable at least 50 contributors were required. Positive reactions were received from 55. Sadly, when I asked for money to be put on the table, many did not come to the party and the number of persons who contributed stands at 32. This is not a viable number. Hopefully this may prompt those who have not sent a contribution to do so. I will re-evaluate the situation at the end of this month and if targets have not been reached I will can the project and refund those who have made a contribution.

RECYCLING PROJECT

ATTENTION RHEENENDAL ROAD RESIDENTS

DUE TO THE UNFORTUNATE DUMPING OF RUBBISH THE RE-CYCLE COLLECTION DEPOT AT THEP ORTLAND MINI-MARK HAS BEEN CLOSED.

CAMERAS HAVE BEEN INSTALLED TO MONITOR ANY ILLEGAL DUMPING & OFFENDERS WILL BE PROSECUTED.

PLEASE NOTE THAT GARBAGE BAGS ARE TO BE PUT OUT ON A TUESDAY MORNING ONLY

PLEASE TRY & LIMIT THE AMOUNT OF COLLECTION POINTS BY COMBINING A FEW NEIGHBOURS TOGETHER.

Michelle Legg of Red Ban fame requested that this be communicated.

There is an individual or individuals who are still placing rubbish bags at the litter bins at the top of Phantom Pass before Tuesday. If one of these persons is reading this then please STOP.

Kind regards,

Grant McAlpine (Chairman)
