The organisers of the Investgold Wilderness Festival decided that, in accordance with government’s decision to ban all gatherings of 100 or more people, to cancel the 2020 Wilderness Festival.
On Sunday 15 March, president Cyril Ramaphosa announced that all gatherings of 100 or more people will be banned in an attempt to stop the spread of the Covid-19 (Corona) virus. Therefore the 2020 Wilderness Festival will not continue.
The health risk to exhibitors and festival visitors is a major concern, and we are committed to the fight against the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
We are convinced that the cancellation of the 2020 event is in the interest of everyone involved, including the residents of the coastal town of Wilderness. We are in the process of contacting all artists and exhibitors and will engage in negotiations to determine the way forward.
As organisers, we are looking at a number of possibilities in order to find alternatives, and will inform all stakeholders of our decisions.
We assure you that this decision was not taken lightly, and we are saddened by the announcement.
