Fancourt wins South Africa’s best golf hotel

GEORGE, 30 OCTOBER 2019 – Fancourt Hotel & Country Club celebrates its 25th birthday with the momentous winning of South Africa’s Best Golf Hotel in the World Golf Awards.

Regarded as Golf Tourism’s highest accolade and a testament to winners’ commitment to excellence, the World Golf Awards are voted for by leading golf tourism professionals and hundreds of thousands of golf consumers internationally.

This is not the first time Fancourt has won this prestigious award – an accolade which the staff of this leading golf destination are delighted to have won in such an important year.

“We are incredibly grateful to be honoured by our industry partners and loyal guests who have chosen us above 12 other world-class golf hotels in South Africa,” says Peter Dros, Sales and Marketing Director at Fancourt.

Designed by a dynamic team spearheaded by Gary Player and Fancourt Hotel & Country Club owner, Dr. Hasso Plattner, the three golf courses consistently rank among the top golf courses in South Africa, with The Links, voted number one in Africa, according to Golf Digest South Africa.

In addition to luxurious accommodation at Fancourt and the Manor House, a member of the Leading Hotels of the World, Golfers also have access to comprehensive practice facilities, a Golf Academy and a fully equipped Pro Shop.

“As we celebrate Fancourt’s 25th birthday this year, we look forward with great enthusiasm to a future filled with great golfing experiences, happy memories and delivering excellence over the next 25 years and beyond,” concludes Dros.

About Fancourt

Fancourt has become a global landmark for business, leisure and golfing travel but its gradual expansion can be traced back to the establishment of the Manor House by its first custodian, Henry Fancourt White, in the 1880s. Expanding on the stature of the Manor House, the estate itself was transformed into a hotel and golfing destination in 1989 under the direction of Andrea and Helene Pieterse. Now, under the ownership of Dr. Hasso and Sabine Plattner, the Fancourt estate boasts a contemporary outlook on its early beginnings, with award-winning golf courses and unparalleled service offerings, against the backdrop of the ever-present Outeniqua mountain range.
