George Municipality held a Credit Control and Indigent Roadshow from June to July this year. The Finance Directorate has a mandatory requirement to roll-out approved Credit Control, Debt Collection, Customer Care and Indigent policies in the George, Uniondale and Haarlem areas annually.
To present the approved policies for 2019/2020 the programme started on 5 June and these meetings were public information sessions on the approved council policies, better service delivery, how to apply for indigent relief and the benefits of compliance thereof.
According to Mr Leon Wallace, Acting Director: Finance, the Indigent Register as at 30 June 2019 has recorded 19 870 indigent households for George, Uniondale, Haarlem, and rural areas (farms).
The meetings were held in the evenings from 6pm in Thembalethu, Pacaltsdorp, Blanco, Parkdene, Conville, Rosemoor, Lawaaikamp, Borcherds, Protea Park, Touwsranten, Uniondale, Haarlem and George Central.
