GEORGE (April 2019) – It’s time for the 3rd annual BIG WALK by BINAH! The non-profit organisation Binah will again raise awareness for autism during April, which is National Autism Awareness Month, by hosting this popular walk in the Garden Route Botanical Gardens.
National Autism Awareness Month represents an excellent opportunity to promote autism awareness, autism acceptance and to draw attention to the tens of thousands facing an autism diagnosis each year. Binah will be hosting the BIG WALK on Sunday 14 April at 16:00 – at the Garden Route Botanical Gardens for the whole family to raise awareness for families who live with autism.
The NPO Binah (Understanding) creates awareness for children with special needs in order for society to better understand and accept them. The founder members of Binah themselves deal with the challenges families with special needs children face, as they raise their autistic sons. More than 300 people enjoyed the 2018 BIG WALK by BINAH and this year the organisers hope that even more families will attend the walk and share in the true sense of community while sharing their experiences with one another. The theme of Autism Awareness Month is “Embrace Neurodiversity”, as announced by Autism South Arica. Let’s create a country where different ways of thinking, socialising and perspectives are not only accepted but are celebrated
The Garden Route business sector is throwing its weight behind this awareness campaign together with national companies. Citadel Wealth Management and Pick n Pay national will again be on board. Dinner will be covered by Geronimo Spur as they will be grilling burgers for only R35 each and chips for R25. Many vouchers and gifts will again be up for grabs! With the contributions of Tentco, Penguin Gas, Grain Care and Outeniqua Plastics the walk promises to be a great success. Due to the kind support of Interface by Goji PR & Events and media partner, George Herald, the message of autism awareness will be spread extensively.
The organisers of the campaign are excited about the positive response they have received since they announced the 3rd annual BIG WALK. The Big Walk for autism awareness will start at 16:00 on Sunday 14 April – at the Garden Route Botanical Gardens. Show your understanding and support by participating in this fun walk for a worthy cause. The entrance fee is R50pp, children under 12 R20. Everyone who finishes will receive a medal.
