George Municipality Environmental Services in collaboration with Cape Nature, Community Worker’s Programme, Breede Gourits Catchment Agency and Garden Route Municipality, held a clean-up operation in Lawaaikamp/ Borchards (in the view of the N2) dumping site in Garcia Street last Week.
According to Grace Notshokovu from Environmental Services they educated the community in the area last week on the cleanliness of the area, recycling, reporting of illegal dumping and they invited them to clean up. Heidedal Primary was also present at the cleanup and they managed to fill up approximately 400 blue bags with recyclables (tin, glass, paper and plastic).
The government officials managed to fill up plus/ minus 200 black blacks. Heidedal Primary is one of the schools that started on a recycling project by making eco bricks that one can build with.
