The Links at Fancourt improves its ranking in prestigious Golf Digest World 100 mag!

The Links, a privately-owned club at the prestigious leisure resort Fancourt situated on the renowned Garden Route just outside of George, has improved its ranking in the 2018 Golf Digest World Top 100 Golf Courses.

Like most, it is a huge privilege as every golfing facility vies to be featured in the World Top 100.

There are two biennial golfing bibles produced by Golf Digest.  Currently recognised by Golf Digest South Africa as the No 1 golf course in the country, this year The Links has gained kudos as the Golf Digest World 100 magazine (US edition) ranked this challenging golf course No 38 (from No 43) amongst other leading global golf courses. Considered to be the best guide in showcasing not only brilliant design as well as rating courses worldwide, it is eagerly received by the golfing community every other year.  (Note: Brackets indicate course’s previous ranking. The previous ranking indicated on this list is the course’s ranking on the previous World 100 list—when U.S. courses were included.)

“We are totally elated to be included in the world Top 100 golf courses yet again”, says Ryan Reid, Sports & Recreation Director of Fancourt.  “Not only does this recognition entice more golfers to visit Fancourt, awarded Africa’s Best Golf Hotel 2017 by the World Golf Awards last year, but also encourages players to explore the wonders of South Africa,” he concludes.

The Links is the golfing hallmark of the Fancourt estate, featuring an undulating, windswept terrain and dune-style landscape. The course is the collaborative handiwork of golfing icon, Gary Player, course designer, Phil Jacobs and Fancourt’s owner, Dr Hasso Plattner.

Golf Digest (which has more than 6 million readers worldwide) features a select group of leading names from the global golf industry, with content contributions by top international golfers. The selection of the World 100 Greatest Golf course uses a single criterion of overall greatness scored not just by Americans but also by international panellists organized by affiliate magazines around the world.
