Festive fun for all at Fancourt

This year, Fancourt is taking holiday celebrations to new heights with a variety of events to be enjoyed by all. Titled ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, the programme features several public festivities, with highlights including the renowned Festival of Fizz, The Queens High Tea and an exclusive performance by comedian genius, Loyiso Gola.

With the Garden Route being a popular summer destination in South Africa, Fancourt has dedicated itself to creating a fun-filled programme to be enjoyed by travellers alike.  Being just a short-drive from the city of George, the estate offers the perfect base for exploring this ocean-hugging district during the festive season.

South Africa’s favourite funny man, Loyiso Gola, kicks things off with a Comedy Night on the 17th December.  Attendees are encouraged to bring their funny bones and prepare for a night of witty, fast-paced and unapologetic commentary.  At a cost of R150 per person, the Open-Air Show takes place from 18:00 to 20:00, leaving plenty of time to enjoy pre-drinks or dinner at any of Fancourt’s on-site venues.  Light meals and a cash bar will also be available during the performance.

Knowing the holiday season would be incomplete without a glass or two of our favourite bubbly, Fancourt presents the Festival of Fizz on the 18th December.  Taking place at Fancourt’s own French Bistro-style eatery, Monet’s Restaurant, this celebration of sparkling wine will honour several local darlings, including Graham Beck. Costing R150 per person, the festival can be enjoyed from 14:00 to 20:00 and will feature live music by Louise Day.  A food stall and cash bar will also be available, ensuring a full day of enjoyment.

Those with a slight sweet tooth and an eye for flare can look forward to The Queens High Tea to be hosted at Links Lodge Restaurant on the 27th December.  Expect traditional English tea-time eats and treats in a serene and pictorial setting. Taking place from 14:00 to 17:00, tickets for this elegant affair can be purchased at a cost of R200 per person.

This holiday season, Fancourt will also be offering a few tantalising events to tempt the foodies among us.  Sunday lunches can be enjoyed from the 11th of December, costing R195 per adult, R100 per child (aged 4-11) and free for toddlers (ages 0-3).  Themed dinner buffets will feature One Night in Paris on the 23rd December and a Greek Themed Dinner on the 26th December, both to be hosted at Le Pecheur Restaurant.

Christmas celebrations include gourmet fusion cuisine at Henry White’s Restaurant with a 4-course Christmas Eve Dinner costing R540 per person and a 5-course Christmas Lunch costing R595 per person.  Buffet-style Christmas Lunches will also be hosted in the Ballroom and at La Cantina Restaurant at a cost of R490 per adult and R390 for children, while toddlers attend free of charge.

Post-Christmas celebrations continue with A Midsummer Night’s Picnic taking place on the picturesque Enchanted Tree Lawn on the 30th December.  Beginning at 18:30, the evening will feature live music by Garden Route Musique and costs R225 per adult, R125 for children, and no charge for toddlers.

On 31 December, guests and visitors can welcome the New Year to the sounds of Tokyo Groove at Fancourt’s New Year’s Party in the Ballroom. Dance until the early hours, indulge in a dessert buffet and toast to the New Year with a glass of bubbly at a cost of R450 per ticket.
