GEORGE (SEPTEMBER, 09, 2013) – 24 year old Garrett Ehrman hails from George and sustained serious head and chest injuries after his car collided with a tree early Tuesday evening, 3rd September 2013 while on his way home from dinner with his family. The accident occurred in the North Western suburbs of Johannesburg.
ER24 Paramedics, fire-fighters and other services on scene joined efforts to free the man from the badly damaged wreck. The Jaws of Life had to be used before the man was extricated from the vehicle. Advanced Life Support measures were initiated and the patient was airlifted by Netcare 911 to Millpark hospital for definitive care.
Garrett sustained serious injuries such as a skull fracture, cracked ribs, broken pelvic socket, damaged trachea, bruised internal organs including blood in his lungs, cracked facial bones and vertebra. He was put in an induced coma on the scene and on a breathing tube. Doctors had to reduce swelling of organs and stabilize Garrett for three days in the Millpark ICU in order to transfer him to Baragwanath ICU.
Garrett Ehrman has no medical aid and Top of Form a fund raising initiative to aid the Ehrman family with Garrett Ehrman’s medical costs has been started.
Although friends and family are giving their support, Garrett’s injuries are many and severe, with a long and costly road to full recovery lying ahead and no medical aid. A desperate plea goes out to all for any assistance in this regard, as every little bit counts!Top of Form
