Ubuntu is one of the six NMMU values that the George Campus staff and students strive towards, and what better opportunity to practice this value than at the CANSA Relay for Life. This year’s event, which took place on the 16th March saw three teams of Madibaz willingly sign up to participate in the fun, overnight relay.
Apart from participating in the actual event, students raised funds in the form of cash donations which were given by their fellow students and lecturers. All the money received was donated in support of the CANSA’s worth cause.
The NMMU masters team of twelve managed to contribute a whopping R3676 to the CANSA fund and walked a combined 235.2km during the relay held at Carpe Diem School at the weekend. This equals the distance to Oyster Bay, from George!
